Each year the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago hosts SkyRise Chicago, a stair climbing race that takes place in Willis Tower. Proceeds from the event support the Institute’s mission. The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago provides comprehensive physical medicine and rehabilitation care to patients from around the world and is the leader in research and development of technologies in its field.

Racers range from professional and career athletes to patients who have benefited from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s care. Participants climb 2,109 stairs, 103 flights to the finish line. The fastest racer completed the course in 13:09, while the average climb takes 30 to 45 minutes.
